  • One of the founders of the Arachnology Laboratory at Hebei University.
  • Made significant contributions to the classification of Chinese spiders (Araneae), harvestmen (Opiliones), and scorpions (Scorpiones).
  • Described over 320 new species, 5 new genera, and 2 new subfamilies.
  • Published 110+ research papers, and led key volumes in the Fauna Sinica series. Notably, his volume on Araneae: Theridiidae was lauded by Harvard’s Prof. Herbert W. Levi as “a model for global taxonomic treatises”.
  • Collected and curated a pivotal research collection of 100,000+ arachnid specimens, including type specimens of over 300 species.
